Biological magnification is when substances such as fertilizers, heavy metals, or pesticides get into the water of a lake or other body of water and are eaten by fish. The fish are, in turn, eaten my birds or humans. The substances become concentrated in the inner tissues and organs of the organisms and can harm them. This is a picture of a bag of fertilizer found in my house.
