CAM, short for crassulacean acid metabolism, plants go through a type of photosynthesis in which CO2 is taken up and stored durning the night to allow the stomata to remain closed durning the day which decreases water loss. This is a picture of a pineapple found in my kitchen which, along with many succulent plants, is a CAM plant.
